I met a friend yesterday and her son is in prison for DUI’s. Luckily he did not kill himself or anyone else. So, he is spending eighteen months in prison. He has been a heroin addict for several years now. She has been beside herself and has tried everything, but nothing works.
On those long, lonely nights when she can’t sleep, she goes to the internet and finds similar souls who also have children hooked on heroin or addicts who are posting how difficult it is to get off. This page is a place where you can communicate with others who know what you are going through. You will see here that you are not alone in your desperation and sorrow.
Take a look!
What an interesting concept and it sounds like it would be a book you would not want to put down.
Omar Gonzalez has PTSD and served in Iraq from October 2006 to January 2008. He needs mental health help, not incarceration. This is part of the reason our prisons are over crowded…we have too many inmates who need mental health programs, not jails or prisons.
Since this is such a high profile incident, I am in hopes that he will receive the treatment he needs and not stay in some jail until they decide what to do with him. Who knows how long that could take.
(Not too many people can cross the White House lawn and enter the front door!) Shame on the Secret Service.
So, I will be following this story in hopes that it will turn out better than my pessimistic soul expects.
