Beaumont USP is on lockdown. I got a call from my son two days ago to let me know they were being locked down. He saw the guards taking two inmates off the yard…one with blood all over him.
As I said in my previous post, lockdowns during the holidays are frequent. Inmates get depressed and tend to be short with each other and then voila…lockdown. For the friends and family, this can be challenging, because you can’t visit during a lockdown. I am not planning any visits during these holidays. It is just too far to go and too expensive to be turned away. You would think the facilities would make exceptions for out of town visitors, but rules are rules.
Just a reminder, if you are sending money for commissary, do it ahead of time so they can go and get what they need or want for Christmas. The commissary only orders so many things and if you get there late, your loved one may not get what they wanted.
Mostly, keep in contact with them. It is what keeps them going.
